Hello folks. I was looking for any guide on how to accurise 1911, particularly 45ACP. Can't find any decent book or online source and whatever I find is not free. Is there any online source of infoirmation and components to buy to make my 1911 the best shooting gun ever made. I am handy man and have access to mill and lathe machines, I'd rather learn and have fun doing my own work than giving it to someone.

Accurising 1911s

.
Get a copy of the NRAs publication "Gunsmiths Guide".

It has several articles on accurizing the .45 that can be done by a competent amateur gunsmith. One of the better amateur projects is to put an angled pin in the ejection port to keep the barrel down. There is an article in this book to show you how to do it.

At a minimum, you want the Kuhnhausen manuals.

While m1911.org is okay, the top forum-type resource is certainly forums.1911forum.com. The 30 'stickies' in the "1911 'How-To's' and FAQ" section there would be a good starting point for someone getting into 1911 smithing. Some top US pistolsmiths post there as well.
