Pertaining to shooting slugs out of Dominion Grizzly, how would the system be accurate?

The barrel inserts into the receiver and is held in place by the pump tube nut. There is a bit of play in the receiver, and considering the rear sight is on top of it, the gun could not possibly shoot in the same direction as aim.

What's the solution? Is the only accurate method of shooting slugs to use cantilever mount on the barrel?

People should refrain from referring to these chinese guns as 870s.

They are not 870s. They will never function like the real macoy.

Crap is crap. No matter how much you cover it up, it still smells bad.

These china guns are starting to give Remington a bad name.

One of the solutions is to drill and tap a hole through the receiver and barrel and install a set screw to reduce the play between the two. 870 shooters have been doing this for years to improve slug accuracy and I recall recently seeing a Remington shotgun that had this factory modification.

I guess I'm lucky; I've never had barrel slop issues with my 870s, and that includes a 14" Norinco barrel.

For deer this fall, I tried a saddleback rail with a red dot on my Super Mag Express; once I get it zeroed, I just didn't take the barrel off. Worked fine (as in 3" groups) at fifty meters; it started showing drop at 100 meters compared to my 870 MM.

I've got Wilson Combat Trak-Lok II ghost rings on my 870 MM. It shoots minute of deer at 100 meters.

well he did refer to it as an 870 "platform". Which technically, it is. so whats the issue. I have a couple 870 expresses and I would very seriously hesitate to claim them to be of a much higher standard. It just simply is not the case.

That is the funniest thing I have heard all day. The express line up is worse than most the the Chinese clones. But each to their own, eh?

Wingmasters are a different game.

Being not a shotgun shooter, just shooting slugs for the very 1st time in my life, I gathered about 4" size group at 50 yards. That's just fine by my standards, hits a deer, but! BUT! The group is 9" to the right and the rear sight is not adjustable. Even if it was, there is still play in the barrel-receiver connection which will result in a different POI after every cleaning.

The goal of this thread was to basically gather opinions on the cantilever rails performance on 870 platform including chicom knock-offs.

So, back to the original question...

I dunno, my 870 with smoothbore 20" tube, and open rifle sights does 2-3" at 50 yards, from offhand. That is about half the group size of the SKS I was shooting on the same day. How much better do you want, from a shotgun?

If you need better accuracy, buy a rifled tube and sabot slugs, OR... buy a rifle!

:)

Stop saying it's a 870, IT IS NOT.

Norinco is never gonna be part of my gun collection, never.
That's just something I avoid, buying china replicas is just not my thing, you see why? :bangHead:

Do you actually own any Norincos? If not why are you commenting on the quality?

I suppose that we should stop calling all non-Colts 1911s too?!?!

You need to tight up the barrel. Then need a scope - red dot is good up to 50 yd.

Then buy different brands of slugs.

Here is the best group from my Grizzly.

For the cost of a cantilever barrel and optics, you could also get adjustable sights mounted by a gunsmith. Ghost rings maybe? They would solve the problem, and take up less space. Cantilevers and optics ruin the sleek lines of a shotgun in my mind.

Also with ghost rings, if you change barrels, you keep the rear sights so you can always work an aiming solution even if the new barrel only has a bead.
