Accurizing 870 platform

When I tighten down the cap on shotguns I always press down on the barrel with the butt on the ground and then crank it tight....never had a loose barrel before doing that.

How exactly is it loose? Twisting, side to side?
Maybe some electrical tape wrapped around it would help.....pretty easy fix to try.
 
After using your method I still have what appears to be side to side movement, just a little bit (much better). What I had before felt like toggle-move forth-toggle-move back, now it feels like move forth-move back. Maybe it's the heat shield that's confuzing me now - I have way too big hands. With your method it tightened by 2 clicks.
 
the barrel locks up really tight on my grizzly... no play at all. to the posters who were calling these guns ####, eat it. 870 express are more like ####. my old wingmaster was the best 870 I've ever inspected in terms of quality, but the cheap remingtons seem to be inferior to the chinese guns. funny huh? this is coming from a machinist/gunsmith, not some ignorant brand-monger than cares nothing about physical qualities.
