Accurizing a 700 Action

Well I just got off the phone with Sean and he's just putting the finishing touches on my rifle!

After talking with Sean and Tim North I ended up going with a 30" Broughton 5C 7.9B 10 twist chambered for 200 gr Hybrids, trued action, lugs and bolt face, pillar bedded (using turned down sections of my barrel), Badger style bolt knob, and the whole barreled action Cerakoted black.

If Canada Post does their part I should have it back on Friday and it's off to the range on Sunday morning for break-in and load development; just in time for the Victoria Day matches at Connaught. I can't wait to get this thing back!

Until then, here's a pic before the Cerakote:

SWEET! Sean does some great work, I am sure you will be pleased with your new alterations. Also, I love that stock you have! I wish I had jumped on a Robertson before they left town.

Fine looking rifle from what you can see... terrible photo of it though... shadows/distractions/backgound...

We talked about it but I chose not to bush the bolt because I wasn't having any issues with my primers. The other option we looked at was installing a Pierce firing pin assembly. I need to leave something to spend money on for next year!

The threads were recut as part of the truing, along with the bolt face, lugs, and action face.

Thats good the threads are pretty good one to do. Sorry by bush I meant the OD of the bolt. Not too many are dooing it these days.

We offer all the action tuning work as well and we will shim the bolt body.

No where near as popular as it used to be but there are many Rem actions that just need a little TLC to function great.

The owner of this rifle wanted to still have the action function in weather so clearances have been made accordingly. Vault tight lock up but factory loose to cycle.

Fitting new bolts like the gems offered from PTG is all the rage but costs do mount quickly and with custom actions dropping in cost, kind of a tough call.
But we can do that too.

Downside to many customs is that tolerances are so small, even rain and cause it to stop working.

FTRRookie, that is a very nice looking rifle and I am sure it will shoot great. The loss of Robertsons is going to be a thorn not easily removed. Bummer.
