Well I just bought a Win 9422 from my father, I was the original owner and have regretted trading it to him for almost 10 years... now it is mine again and in immaculate condition.
( I just couldn't let him sell it to a stranger for his asking price of $350)

Anyway, I have it sighted in for about 20 yds for hunting and plinking, it has an inexpensive Simmons scope on it, actually not a bad scope, 3-9X32. I have yet to try it at various ranges but it should be good for 10-70 yds within an inch.

Back to the accurizing question... I noticed I can put a full magazine into a group where all the holes are touching but they are stringing in a horizontal line from left to right. So the first shot is dead center the second is about a half a .22 bullet (.11 of an inch I guess) to the right and so on. Very accurate for hunting purposes. But if I am being anal., can I tighten that group?

I have accurized a Win 94 30-30 AE. I was quite impressed with myself getting 1.5" groups at 100, wish I had never sold it. It accomplished this by sanding and grinding slightly in the fore stock, bbl bands and the mag screw (no mag screw on the 9422)

You may be on to something by looking at the fore structure - bands, mag tube, forearm, etc. as the source for the bent group. Something may be not symmetrically balanced frictionally or torque-wise.

But for general friendliness, I'd say trigger work is where to spend the money.

Well, the trigger is decent for a hunting gun, definitely not target quality BUT for one shot accuracy, the gun is excellent. I doubt if the trigger would do much in improving my groups.

94 groups

well iam thinking if you can shoot out the 10/20 ring at 75 yards with a 3-9 cheap simmons scope i believe after even playing with the trigger a bit, you won't get an awful lot better than that. personally thats better than my 94 and i thought that was awesome. arent 94 the best made 22. ever. espesially for being stock. lets see a 10/22 do that. no offence. for you people with a 10/22.

IMHO the Best way to accurize this rifle is to practice with it.
Try at least 3 range trips per week, and you should be good to go by Spring. :)
