Accurizing Savage MKII

I found the Rem Subsonic in North Pro Sports in Saskatoon for the box I tried. I was back there today and they didn't have any more of it. They did however have some SK Standard Plus. Didn't get to try it today. Made it out to the range but the wind was gusting from 30-50km/h. I shot off about 50 rounds of American Eagle and left due to the wind coming from 9 o'clock.

I'm looking forward to a few upgrades over the next while. On the list is a new stock, bedding, and likely a Rifle Basix trigger to hopefully improve accuracy, as well as a few more types of ammo.

A said, ammo and bedding will pay the biggest dividends in accuracy. I have the old style standard trigger (non-Accutrigger) and it's around 6-7 pounds pull weight. You might see a difference going to the Rifle Basix trigger but I doubt you'll see much.

Pick up some of that Lapua as soon as you can. You'll like the results.

You can greatly improve the non-accutrigger model with a bit of work before going to the Rifle Basix one.

Well I have adjusted my accu-trigger to as light as it will adjust to. Again the guys at North Pro came through. I didn't have the little tool for adjusting the trigger and they gave me one out of their tickle trunk of little goodies at no charge. Trigger pull is probably down around 2 pounds-ish. I am not sure as I currently do not have a trigger pull guage (on my to-buy list). I am hoping that with the adjusted trigger and the SK I bought I can hopefully tighten up groups a bit (if I ever get a calm day on the praries). After that maybe some of the other procedures will be tried.

What do you you think about having a smith do a trigger job on the factory accutrigger? worth the $$$? There is a little creep in the trigger, doesn't quite break as crisp as I'd like it to.
