ACE VR

ACE VR is very cool. Like most dryfire, if you treat it honestly and appropriately, it can be a useful training tool. Mostly what I see value in is stuff you can already do with a room and dryfire targets though. I had a conversation with Mason at worlds about it and our consensus is that it's a fun video game and nothing more.

In my whole IPSC career I've spent $50 on dryfire, the Go Fast Don't Suck IPSC mega pack. Best money I ever spent. You can get to where I am with nothing more than that. I personally won't spend the money on ACE VR based on real-world training value. If you find it super fun and see the entertainment value in that, go for it!
Thanks for the feedback

Interesting idea. I think it looks kinda cool but I worry that I wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost.

On a practical level there is no recoil so that also make me wonder if it would bring on a false sense of improvement although the other benefits will carry over.

Needs support for long guns (I prefer long guns). I expect that will come in time.

Bought the headset from Costco. I bought the 3s 128gb which works fine with the Ace.
If you think you might be into gaming on it I would buy the 3 512gb. The 3 has better lenses than the 3s.
I bought the handset from Ace. You have to buy your first handset from Ace. The trigger pack is patented and people can only sell the after market handsets without the trigger pack.
I only bought month subscription at first which worked out well because about 2 weeks in they sent me a 25% off coupon which ended up being $158 cad for a whole years subscription.
I didn't mention this before but I have let three people try the Ace and all three have bought one.

Is the Quest 3 worth the extra over the 3S? The 3S is on offer and the 3 is not (guessing supply / demand is coming into play here) so there is a fair difference in the price.

Did anyone else pick up one of these? Curious to know your thoughts

Never knew that existed - thank you.

Might pick one up (also thinking about the table top swinger) - did you purchase direct?

So I’ve been using this for a couple of days now and it’s quite interesting. I’ve come to the conclusion that this will be an excellent tool for working on transitions, target identification and reaction time. I see it as a good supplement to my normal dry fire routine, mag changes really aren’t realistic enough to be of benefit and can’t really translate to real world situations. That being said I’m enjoying it so far

I was at an IPSC match and someone was telling me about this & that was his conclusion - it was awesome for transitions.

Which VR headset did you get? The Quest 3 or the 3S?

I went with the 3S because a lot of users said it’s more than enough to handle this and more. I did upgrade the head strap immediately to a BoboVR Pro2, highly recommend this 👍

Interesting. There is a decent price difference between the 3 and 3S so that is good to know.

Did you get the 128 or 256 version?

I use Ace quite a bit. Had to order prescription lens inserts for my Q3.

Regarding Quest 3 vs 3s: if you wear glasses, check your prescription. Otherwise have your pupillary distance measured. Q3s has three fixed PD settings that may or may not work for your eyes. Q3 has an adjustment wheel for PD and a broader range for adjustments.

Hmmm, maybe the Quest 3 makes more sense.

I am a little long sighted so would hate to get caught with my pants down.
