Please forgive me for my earlier comment. I wrongly assumed you were based in Canada.

The pics of the internals are interesting. It's a bit difficult to see exactly how everything works without being able to work the bolt carrier in the action. Is the striker held back until the cartridge is chambered when in full auto mode, or is it free to travel with the bolt carrier until the trigger is released ?

Thanks

Kevin,
you use the Vz58 there for job? How do they perform? Whats the reputation or how would you compare them to AKs and M16/M4s? The ammo in the mags, its Czech surplus?
Stay safe

We are in the midst of swapping to M4A1's --

VZ/CZ mags are GARBAGE - they can actually fix 31 rds and when doign so swell the mag lips where they cant be put it -- even with 28-30 the mag lips swell and inserting a mag is awkward - to downright frustrating - impossible to do under pressure at speed.
However they are more accurate than AK's - and recoil much nicer - and more controlable in full auto or rapid semi auto shooting (like if you shooting a vehicle/people in a vehicle. - or just training to do so

Ammo - we have what ever the Department of State supplies - sometimes its nice brass cased stuff - some times its Russian Wolf - sometime Russian Sardine can surplus...

It is not a M4 -- and the main pressure for our switch over to M4's was due to the liability of doing precision and surgical work with a peasant blaster.

Given the choice (since we have both Ak's and CZ's) most chose the Czech gun if they can...

The Czech gov't donated a ####load to the Kabul Police as well...

VZ stands for VZOR translated "type" 58 is the year it was 1958 the original military select fire version has this name. There is no CZ 58 .....there are 3 civilian models of this rifle CZ 858 Tactical, CZ 858 Tactical-2, (built only for the canadian market) and the CZH2003 imported by marstar which they cal vz 58 ....
