Achieving Level 2 for Posting Equipment for sale?

I've been contacted by a couple of new members with whom I'd been in conversation regarding WTS ads I had posted. Neither of them had actually purchased anything from me, but both wanted to trade feedback ratings with me in an effort to circumvent the rules and kickstart their CGN memberships. I could understand their desire, especially now that I learn that it takes 45 days, but...CGN is Greentips' house, and he gets to set the rules for visitors. I don't think there's any hidden agenda involved...although I sometimes wonder if by not suspecting a conspiracy or a liberal scheme or some other nasty surprise I am sorta going against the flow around here. The rules are in place to improve security on the EE, and I'm not about to start participating in ways to work around them.
Exactly, his House, his Rules and circumventing the rules is one way to loose credibility with the masses.

Nut unfortunately his rules made

Honestly the old method was better. Less garbage posts, less out of the EE adds, less trying to skirt the rules.

Then old low post count members losing their EE access. When they should be grandfathered.

Was it better? I dunno...maybe, and maybe not. But it's not my call to make, I can choose between coming here and following the rules...or not. He offers the same choice I was given at every mealtime when I was growing up: take it...or leave it. :)

The official party line is that the changes were necessary for security reasons, and that seemed reasonable given the sudden increase in account-hacking activity that we heard about. In any case, I can't imagine why he would have stirred up the pot so extensively without a good reason for doing so. But I don't worry about it because...once again...his house, his rules.

Higher security. Lower quality content. Way more useless posts, solicate buying/selling even from older members, necro threads etc But yes 45 days is too long. As you see. People are trying to solicate feedback. Then again, been around the days of server melt down and donations for server upgrades. So grew up on the CGN dinner table. So you don't think my feedback matters and should just take it or leave it.

Having everything based on post count. Alinates anyone that been members prior and just hear mainly to buy/sell.

Definitely needs to be tuned a bit and feedback from older members should be welcomed.

I'm not debating any of that, just giving my feedback. I didn't imply that your feedback...or mine, or anyone else's...does not matter. I think that everyone's feedback matters, but only to a certain extent. If I visit a friend's house frequently for years, and then he decides to repaint it in some horrid new colour, I'll tell him what I think...but I don't believe that he needs to take my advice about it. Same thing here.

If the changes improve security...and I'll take everybody's word for it that they do, certainly not qualified to gauge that myself...then that's a good thing and I applaud it. Do the changes have negative aspects as well? Of course they do, but a bit of inconvenience...and that's all it is, IMHO... in exchange for improved security is...again, IMHO only...perfectly reasonable.

Some fine tuning is definitely in order, and there are aspects of the new system that I find somewhat irritating. Trying to determine who is the seller and who is the buyer is a bit problematic right now, and that's a PITA if you refer to feedback ratings much, as I do. Creating labels to organize one's message box is a problem, at least for me. The new likes/dislikes emoji's are an easy way to say "I agree" without actually bothering to peck out an answer, so I guess I like that. My biggest beef is probably the simple fact that I have asked for help on multiple occasions regarding some of these issues and have received no acknowledgement or advice on how to proceed.

Should you "take or leave it"? Whether or not you accept or like that idea...that's the way it is. Change what you can't accept, and accept what you can't change. CGN is private property...and it's not mine. I'll give my opinion, and see what happens.

One can "take it or leave" as they wish (in my opinion and mine only) or they can "embrace the suck" if they feel it is hard on them.
There are other forums (choices) to choose from too so the choice is ours to make .
I doubt there are any Canadian Forums that are as wide ranging as CGN .
Just some ramblings/opinions on the 45 day hold for the topic at hand.

Right now I want to purchase one on here and I don't see any way for me to contact the buyer. I joined a week or more ago. I want to purchase a .223 semi before the darn things are all outlawed. Its very frustrating. I've had my RPAL since I was very young and now im middle aged. I dont care if I can post but Id think we should at least be allowed to buy when you join.

Sounds like someone needs some cheese with his whine!!! Don't like the owners rules here you can always leave.
Been here way longer then you. Unlike you, many of us helped support server upgrades before site sponsors were a thing. This site needs some tweeking. While many join, many are not staying. Then issues coming up were not a thing before. Search engine isn't the best. Leads to necro, post, Many more fodder posts, just to post to gain access. Many ask questions then never follow up. Many OG low post losing their EE access.

No harm in suggesting some tweeks. Then don't like it #### off. Post like that, the infighting, the drama is why many of OGs left.

My father hasnt been on this site in nearly a decade. Wasn't for him, I wouldnt been an 17 y/o excited to be a member here. That spent like 24 years visiting this site nearly everyday in every country I visited. Even Afghanistan in a war zone came to check it out.

I think the sites fine and if it made security better then we are all better off. I actually think members should have to pay a yearly fee for the privilege of using the site. As far as the numbers going down,Uhh dont think so!! Some on here think everythings a contest when its not! We are all here for a common interest of firearms weather it be buying, selling, modifying, refinishing, building, reloading, competing, hunting or any or all the others things that get discussed on here!! If it really bothers you that much then just move on its really not that hard.

I was a member here 15 plus years ago, I cant for the life of me remember my user name. The email I can recall but no longer have access to it so ill put my time in as I try to figure out how to level up.
