ACHTUNG Fritz!!! Schnell, Schnell...

Tell me about it, I'v got one in the closet and one on the way. Had to sell a couple of K98k's to afford it but I think they'll look nice next to my remaining K98k's and my G.33-40.

Still, sell me one or two then you'll have a new collecting forus, replacing them ;)

It's an addiction Skippy, quit while you're ahead, it only gets worse! ;)

Wow! It's been about 28 years since I handled a MG42 or 34! Thanks for sharing the pics of those beauties, Klunk! Very nice. Believe it or not, when I was a young teen I worked for the best part of an entire day recording and verifying serial numbers on a HUGE shipment of MG42's(as well as other guns) that came into Canada from Israel. I can't remember how many 42's there were, but it was a VERY large number. What a pile of those guns we handled that day. I handled a few after that day but I have no idea where all those guns were sold. Most were certainly sold within Canada though. Yes! They were all legally imported and sold. I often wondered what happened to all those guns. Maybe that 42 of yours is one of them Klunk. GRIN

Wow! Now, Bubba would possibly thin down the forestock, put some furniture brass buttons on the stock, spot weld a scope mount on, stain the stock a nice reddish color, and - presto!! - a real fine huntin' rifle!! Another option would be to "varnish" the stock. :p:p

If you think G/K43's are expensive, get into MG34/mg42's as Klunk suggested - yikes! The guns are expensive, but the accessories are OBSCENE.

G43's

Nice collection of G43's, largest collection of them I have ever looked at.
Have you ever shot them?
How many years did it take to collect them?
I remember watching episodes of Combat and a German soldier is using a G43. I think there was one in the movie about the Japanese American Regiment in WWII when the two guys were going after water and they met two other Japanese American soldiers, and they were fired upon by a German with a G43. Was it Go For Broke or something like that?

The book Hitler’s Garand is a bit steep but worth having for the information. I picked up a G43 a few years back and it had the manual in the stock along with the spare parts springs pins and a couple of extractors. I had it on my rack and a guy just kept bugging me for it. He came over one night and just kept laying out $100 bills until I cracked and sold it to him. Now I think it was the shorter model but probably not the really rare one.
The same thing with my Johnson’s found them and sold them the same way.
It’s OK to collect and have them but finding one is the real thrill.
I am into Mausers I kind of like the Israeli 7.62’s and South American models don’t know why, probably because of the variations.

ALbayo, I remember plenty of G43's in the show COMBAT!
It seemed like every "Kraut patrol" they ran into had a fellow with a G43. Probably the one blank firing model the movie studio owned that they reused in every episode.

Klunk, when the ZOmbie invasion starts I'll meet you at your place, and we'll begin the armed thrust towards Clavens.

might be better to meet at Clavens and then head my way....pick up a LAV3 ar GM on the way

The prices I paid for my 42 and 34 were about HALF what people will pay for a good G-43

Not a good idea, Ottawa will be the second place to get hit by zombies (toronto being the first). Where else do you have such a dense collection of mindless politicia... er, people? At least we'll be safe in the rural areas.

I have only seen (and handled but not fired :() one of those, property of a nameless board member ... I'm still somewhat unimpressed by the sand cast bolt carrier (or whatever that top cover thingy is called) .... I still want one though ...
