BOB P.....YIP Speer 180'S with about 59 grains of 4350IMR 2992 fps sub moa. 'bout 8-10 yrs ago. I bought Red Hassey's custom Win from him and traded my Whitworth to him. Just had to have a prettier one. Note the stamping is not indexed on the Whitworth I had. If its the same...wanna sell it????? If not I prob still have my load data for it. I can get it to you.
 
At the moment I have three Ackley chambers in the safe.

The 223AI is a great cartridge that gives 3650 with 50 grain bullets. I haven't loaded 40 grain bullets in it. It feeds okay if you are careful in placing rounds in the mag. IF you give it the slightest chance the bolt will miss the head of the case and scrape along the top/side of the cartridge. If the head of the cases sit a bit proud it will feed not bad, providing you hold your mouth right.

My 257 Roberts AI is on a pre-64 action. Works well, but the improved cartridges don't feed as smoothly in it as the parent case. Nothing approaching a misfeed, but the improved case feeds more herky-jerky than the parent. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if this one had been chambered with a standard reamer, I bought it as it sits today.

My 280AI is in my mind a great cartridge. 140 grain bullets at 3150 fps with little recoil. 120 grain bullets at 3375 fps. With 140 grain TSX's there's not much it won't do. It is built on a M700 ADL and feeds incredibly well. It's only worth 100 fps over a standard 280, but I can't think of a single thing to fault with it. We can talk about fireforming but for me that was 100 rounds of practice at the range. I didn't lose a single case, and am set forever with it. Winchester nickel cases work great, by the way. I had it custom built, and if I was to do it over knowing what I do today I wouldn't change a single thing. Great cartridge.
 
My 375 AI shoots 260 Noslers at 3090 chono'd FPS and always within an inch @ 100yds if I do my part.
I think thats about 350-400 fps over Max loads in normal H&H.

My fireforming load of IMR 4320 and Sierra 200gr Flat Nose shoots about 1" as well. Great deer load.

Havent trimmed AI brass yet.
 
Currently I have rifles chambered in 7-08AI, 280AI, and 223 AI, and am having another chambered in 7-08AI, with a 22-250AI soon to arrive (getting rid of the 223AI).

All are built on Rem 700's, and all feed as slick as the parent cartridges.... EXCEPT the 223AI. It has the same issues with regards to feeding that RickF mentioned, but is being dismantled to build the 22-250AI.

I like to full length size all of my hunting ammo, and case life is unreal with the AI's (25+ firings is not uncommon with my brass).

Count me in as an Ackley fan....

Dan my long lost freind...grovel grovel. that rifle is on my "nevershouldasoldit" list. If you do decide to part with it, keep me in mind. I would probably stand it in the corner and "use it once in a while". I usually go visit Blair on Saturday mornings 9.30 ish. Drop by and we'll have a coffee. I think the last time I saw you was 'bout 6-7 years ago, or more at Phoenix.

Ive been thinking about this one....I already have a 6.5x257 Roberts so I would make sense to move to 260 AAR as its the AI version . Can anybody tell me who has a reamer for it ?
