ACOG 4x32 Chevron reticle...help please...

Eye relief on the TA33 is much better than the TA31 series as well. Much smaller FOV though, but much smaller and lighter.

Larue mounts are nice (have one for my TA33), but ADM mounts are as good or better, and easy to find up here, or order right from ADM. Screw Larue! ;)

I've heard nothing but good things about ADM. And the best part of it is exactly as you stated, "...order right from ADM."

Im running the TA31F right now and I cant say enough good things about the chevron (I have the cracked FO tube, seems like a common issue but doesnt effect function. I have another ACOG with the crosshair reticle and not as much of a fan. The range markings seem way to close together to be of use..

Hey Steve, would I be able to purchase one from the irunguns.com site and have it legally brought into Canada?

Don't be idiot like me with QD mounts ....I was showing off to a buddy the awesomeness of a Larue QD base while holding rifle on the side .

Turns out its hard to hold the weight of a TA-11 with two fingers on a tiny QD lever since as soon as it released it slipped and BOUNCED on a tile floor . My buddy was able to catch it on the rebound !

Obviously scope only had cosmetic damage

Lesson learned...detach scopes with both hands

Kidding aside once you get behind a ACOG with BAC vs any 4X magnified optic you will be sold . When other shooters try out my ACOGS the issue they always have is the temptation to close one eye !

I have been slowly transitioning all my red dots to ACOG since as my eyes are aging I have developed astigmatism where all red dots look fuzzy . IT worst with the 3X aimpoint magnifier

Trijicon Tripower reflex with cheveron is crisp

Hey TRG...I know this might be a long-shot, but do you have any experience with Leupold VX-R 1.25/1.5 - 4x optics? If so, how would you rate them against the ACOGs?

If anyone else can put up a PRO & CON comparison, I would love to hear it.

Sorry, I have not used the VX-R low powered scopes

Agreed! The TA33s are the black sheep of the ACOG line--lightweight, with great eye relief, and still 3X magnification and a 10mm exit pupil. I had a red chevron on mine and I liked it--it allowed both precise aiming and quick acquisition. The only con was that I found it was maybe a little too bright in direct sunlight.

Thanks anyhow, TRG.

I had the opportunity of using a friends ACOG with donut reticle. Awesome scope, crystal clear, and for me, the donut reticle acted like a big, hollow red dot on the target...it made it a bit tricky to use at distances other than 100 meters, though. It was zeroed at 100, so pretty much center of the donut on target put you bang on. The edgeless reticle made me really have to focus on placement on targets closer/further than 100 meters. I'm pretty sure with more practice, this would not be the case.

I could see why the chevron would be a bit more usefull, as it would not cover as much of the target as the donut does. Also, the chevron gives you a "point" to aim with, whereas the donut is just that...a circle to place on your target.

Eye relief is brutal...as mentioned in previous posts. Had to get myself relly close to the ocular lens to get a clear field of view...kind of uncomfortable, but manageable. Awesome optic, none the less, but I would prefer an optic with a bit more eye relief, hence the reason I asked about the VX-R Patrol from Leupold. But again, this is just my opinion, based on my extremely limited experience shooting behind an ACOG.

The ACOG TA31F was my go-to scope for CQB matches here in Langemark Range, Base Borden. I was a rock star with that unit and could do no wrong as long as I did my part. When my groups opened up, it was because of me rushing the rapid fire stage or me goofing off while firing on the move. Yes, the red reticle was bright in the sunlight, but nothing that a bit of black electrician's tape could not fix.

I would buy another one given the funds needed, but I need to try other optics alternatives to widen my own scope of shooting (pardon the pun). :)

I'm using a Vortex Sparc II this coming season and after using it for deer/rifle season for a few days, I was impressed.

Cheers,

I have a ta31f and the new ta02 Led acog. If buying new I would go TA02. The adjustable led and slightly better eye relief really improve the optic
