It realy dosn't seem to mater unless it's day light. Then Amber washes out and red is had to spot during sun rise & set. Although the green seems to be good even on green backgrounds in my experences.

A Trijicon rep told me green is the best because there are more receptors for it in the human eye. He said the red military reticle is mostly political. Looking at the sights, the green certainly was bright and fast to pick up with a lot of contrast.
