hi guys, i am wondering for a acog how bright does the cross hair suppose to be in total darness. i recently bought a used one and in total darkness, it doesnt seems to be as bright as i thought.

In any case, if the 3H is indeed running out, how can i sent it back for service?

the model is ACOG TA31RCO-A4CP

In low-light (night firing) the crosshairs will only be bright enough to see them against the silhouette of your target to minimize any loss of night vision and to prevent washing out the target silhouette with light pollution from the reticle.

In reality, when in total darkness, real total darkness, there isn't even enough light for Night Vision Sets to work, you need an illuminator.

If you have a sight that isn't proscribed by the DOS you can ship it back to Trijicon for recharge, otherwise, it will be seized on the way back across the border.

All good advice! :D

I wonder if I did to many night fire exes...

I remember when I was a kid, I used to be afraid of the monsters in the dark. In Battle School, I came to realize I no longer had to fear the monster in the dark, for it was I.

It is a fine line and another one of the reasons I went with an ACOG over a Spectre DR, pissin' about with the light settings instead of keeping my head up is not cool.

Unless I missed something the ACOG will get less bright over time. The original poster bought used so how old is the ACOG? I have a TA01 that I bought new earlier this year and it is quite bright (not bothersome bright) at night. My manual says it should last approx. 12 years (I'm guessing they're referring to the tritium half life or some such).
