ACOG TA31F problem

I sold this scope to another CGNer, but we've got a problem. Here's what we've got on our hands, below is a quote from the current owner:

I found the adjustments don't work right... no matter what I do it won't shoot POI at any distance... I tired the vertical adjustment from one max to the other and the bullet hardly moved. I tried this from 25m out to 110m. The left and right seemed to work ok, but the movement per clicks weren't consistent.

I personally never actually used the scope. I got it used from another CGNer, but decided I couldn't afford it, so I passed it along at the same price I paid for it before I got a chance to try it (property taxes.. ). The current owner has said that the problem can't be his rifle, as other optics work just fine for pointing to the POI. So, that's ruled out.

Does anyone have any ideas what we should do? Is this a normal Trijicon issue? We were both under the impression that Trijicon made top notch stuff, so seeing this one crap right out on us is a bit of a downer.

It's likely busted. I have a TA-33R8 which has 4 clicks/inch at 100 m. takes quite a few clicks to get it adjusted but you do see POI move with clicks. The TA31F has 3 clicks per inch at 100m so your should be seeing the POI shift even quicker.

I didn't buy my ACOG on EE, I got mine from Police Ordnance. They have TA-31F in stock but it's quite a bit more than prices on EE

Is the ACOG completely free on the Pic rail and not touching anything Did you take the rear sight off? It can hang up on the rear sight if it's not positioned far enough up and will cause a large headache and lots of ammo to zero with no effect. Take it off and reposition it again.

i'm definately not an ACOG expert, but i saw on t.v. where they were doing evaluations and testing of the new acog with a s.w.a.t. team in the states. the trijicon rep doing the instructing was adament that the students had to give the scope a good rap with the palm of their hand to seat the new adjustments. just my 2 cents

The rap with the hand is a way of saving ammo. Firing 1 or 2 shots between adjustments does the same thing.
