ACOG - TA33 crapped out!

After reading this thread it makes it hard to even want to buy a Trijicon product. That's pretty ridiculous that they would say "We really want this so that our engineers can look at it", but then not even make a reasonable effort to compensate you. I cannot think of a reason why they would not have the Acog shipped to them to do what they want.. and then have their Canadian distributor give you credit for one. Then they go and try to have it shipped back to be destroyed and leave you hanging? Sounds like something pretty skeevy is going on.. And companies wonder why they lose market share to companies like Vortex etc...

Wouldn't that be theft of your property? If you bought it legally and it was never reported stolen prior to your purchase, how can a private company in the US order it destroyed? Nice try. Sounds like they don't want their poor quality getting into the hands of their competition to exploit.....

Yeah I have NO idea. And it wasn't stolen or illegal - it just sounds like from their records, it was sold to a US distributor. Without proof of proper import into Canada, they can't cover warranty fix. I get that. But to ask TSE to return it to them for DESTRUCTION??? That's what kills me. I was totally above board with them the whole time, and told them how i was not the original owner, etc. and they still said they couldn't help. Sure they'll steal it back and destroy it without compensation, but that's it. REAL nice Trijicon!

Not only is the product 8 years old, Trijicon's warranty specifically states: "This warranty specifically applies to the optical systems and metal structure of the product and does not apply to the illumination system."

So yeah I can't say Im terribly surprised they won't offer credit or a replacement, especially considering its a case of a second owner, and he's in Canada with an optic which they can't find records of being exported.

putting the warranty issue aside I do find disgusting that trijcon would attempt to have private propriety shipped out of the country to be destroyed without the consent and knowledge of the owner.

Trijicon asking TSE to ship the optic back is questionable for sure, but the liability would have lied with TSE had they complied as they were the ones with care custody and control of Canucklehead's property. The other issue is whether or not said request originated with Trijicon or the staff at TSE. I'm inclined to reserve judgement before throwing Trijicon under the bus. As it stands, Trijicon has a better reputation than TSE... Just saying.

I agree... I have no other info than what was relayed to me when I picked up the optic from TSE. All I know is that TSE was copied on all my correspondence with Trijicon, as they had the optic at the time. I have no idea who initiated what after I heard the final note from Trijicon where they said it couldnt be shipped back legally.
