Acquired a decent Winchester 1894 30-30 SRC made in 1921 (photo)

A friend of mine was selling this very nice Saddle Ring Carbine a couple months ago, and I knew I'd be kicking myself if I let the opportunity pass. It is now safe in my hands ... an honest vintage carbine made in 1921. The tang sight is a Lyman and much appreciated by my 62-year old eyes.

I load my own cartridges and so I'm experimenting with a variety of loads and bullets, including cast and JFP. My best load thus far will give a 2 & 1/2", 5-shot group at 100 yards. I'm now at the tweaking stage.

I wrap the ring with hockey tape to ensure no rattles.

X 2 ....and the lever as well. The leather wrap gives it more personality, functionality and some protection....Remember that leather will hold in moisture = rust....
