Just curious as to which one he's going to be using. At any rate, a good hunting load of 223 is plenty to down a deer.
I will be trying with my 450, should take care of any thick skins. Moose and possibly Elk will be the real test if I ever get a draw againDeer grow thicker skins as they cross from province to province it would seem.

For what it's worth I phoned Bushmaster today about the ACR DMR's. The rep on the phone says they are slated to be in production this October.
So hopefully by Christmas. Man I can't wait for mine.
Is the factory unfired 16" 223 barrel worth anything in resale?
just barrel and flash hider, no gas parts. If it has the gas parts attached, YUP! Just the barrel, not really at all. In fact, if it's a complete barrel, PM me and I will make you an offer.

I would be interested in any/all parts to do a 7.62x39 conversion with a .311 bore barrel as well.
A little off topic but does anyone know of an extended enhanced hand guard (quad rail) for the acr? I'm planning to send my rifle in to heron arms (get re classified to non restricted) but there's just too much barrel exposure.

You're talking about the ACR so it's not off topic at all. This thread is all things ACR
The basic handguard covers a little more barrel and you can add MOE rail sections to it if you want to, there is also a PTS (airsoft) handguard that is even longer. I don't think the PTS one has heat shields though.
Yeah, you need to remove the heat shield from a basic handguard and install it on the PTS hanguard. Frankly, I dont need a hanguard longer than the basic version. I can still extend my arm far enough to get a nice proper thumb-over-bore grip.
