As you can see, the barrel is stainless... Just gunkoted the parts that were showing. ;)

How's accuracy with that thin of a profile ?

As a side note, I was unimpressed with the loose feel of my acr with the basic hand guard.
I drilled the hand guard so that it could be bolted on up front to get the slop out of it. Pulled the heatshield for weight savings too.
It's still loose on the upper/lower fit like a damn cheap dpms ar though.
Also the brass deflector mounting screw was too long, rubbing on the bolt.
Overall a great design, the execution is poor though.
Better quality than an xcr still, but way behind a comparably priced ar.

Wonder if anyone has done a conversion with Ian with a heavier barrel, specifically w/ DMR in mind (target and hunting).

No, but I talked to him about it. It was gonna be about $1000 with the kreiger in conventional profile. A heavier barrel would be substantially more because the "clamps" that attach the wider diameter (heavy) barrel (to the gas block, etc) would need to be replaced/or made up altogether, increasing shop time. So, I dropped the idea (at least for now).

Very good point which I hadn't thought about when asking that question. Pretty nips that idea in the bud if one wants to keep the cost at a resonable point.

And if you want to keep a front heavy rifle from becoming a really front heavy rifle...

If one was to go down that route (heavy barrel profile & DMR setup in mind), a really front heavy rifle doesn't come into the equation as much as it would if we'd be talking about a CQB rifle - it would be shot from a prone position (even when standing), using a bipod or a rest.

I would suggest in that case ones money would be much better spent on an sl8.
Having owned both, I can say with certainty that the sl8 is a more accurate, higher quality rifle.

Anyone looking for a barrel kit for their ACR any length, twist, or profile send me a PM and I'll point you towards the right guy. He won't be ready till spring but needs to know how many blanks he needs to order so let him know soon as the wait on blanks can be 6 months or more depending on available stock at the time.

Price should be better than any available now :D

Any chance of getting one in 7,62x39 ?

I'm interested to see what my ACR can do once I get a quality NR barrel into it. If it is close to the accuracy of my SL8-4 I think the HK may go up for sale. Gonna be hard to part with that one but I have a few .223's now and am thinking I may need to thin the herd a little.
