So I take it conversation kits for the acr are considerably more expensive and rare than for XCR rifles?

Talking ACRs are indeed rare, tongue in cheek.

You do see used kits once a while. Gun smith custom produced work for the ACR seems a good way to go and not outrageously expensive, e.g. Herron Arms.

Here my take on the ACR. It’s got a blackened arms east stainless barrel so it’s not super front heavy, but gives decent accuracy. ;) Accuracy wise I get solid 1 MOA groups (5 shots) when using 77gr OTM. 55gr M193 gives 1.5ish to 2 MOA. All done sandbagged at the rear.

Parts:
Geissele SSA-E
RPM handguard
Harris HBRM-S

If you have a restricted rifle it's very easy to convert it yourself. It's pretty much just an 18.5 inch AR-15 barrel then transfer your gas system onto it.
The only problem with doing it that way is that the ACR has a more efficient gas system than an AR so you end up overgassed which is why if you have to run Dlask barrels on the S setting. They did no R&D and just sold 18.5" AR-15 barrels that were cross drilled for the gas block pins and charged close to double what they paid for it. The S setting is for suppressor and it just bleeds off more gas than the U setting (un-suppressed).
After that all that's left is the paperwork which is a single page form filled out by a certified firearms verifier and approximately a 3 month wait for the CFO to do their job.
You don't need to worry about having 2 gas systems so you can quickly switch the factory barrel back in because it is illegal to shoot it with the short barrel until after you've call in and had your rifle registered as restricted again.
I used a 16 inch factory ACR barrel in an AR build and once I opened up the gas port slightly it works perfectly.

That looks awesome, the only thing I'd change if it was mine is the brake, that looks kinda loud and I don't find these to have much recoil due to the weight of them. Just my personal preference though.
I really need to start shooting mine more often, been so caught up in load development for my MH and M14 lately I haven't shot the ACR in months.

I started off with just a flash hider. But after trying out a brake, I never took it off. The reason is even at full magnification at 21x, I can see impacts. The recoil of this thing is almost like airsoft lol!

I was not a fan of the x95 build, but this ACR DMR build is solid.

Thanks 120ish :)

k so I really want an ACR, always really liked the gun but for some reason I have really started lusting after one recently..
It seems like a lot are on the EE and I'm curious is that just the holiday's and people trying to free up some cash or is there a reason so many seem to be being sold lately?

That and the new non restricted rifles coming out like the SLR and MV-S.

If you haven’t noticed yet, the black/red guns and “tactical” gear industry is essentially men’s fashion show, “ooh yuck that’s so last season” lol

my bet is that people are dumping it for the SLR. when you place a full size AR next to the ACR, i still think the ACR has the edge.

Other than the weight disadvantage the ACR took all the good from the AR and improved ergonomics and added the quick change barrel system that actually holds zero after removal and reassembly plus retaining the accuracy potential of the AR platform. I think it is a better rifle than the AR but I still love AR's and with the new non restricted AR based rifles coming to market I'll be adding to the collection. I doubt I'll sell my ACR but a non restricted AR is very appealing.
Both are awesome and if funds are tight and a non restricted AR is available I can see why guys would switch. The AR is a much better supported platform with a million options on how you build it.

Where would someone buy acr gas blocks and barrel wrenches etc.. to make a complete barrel?

Also do companies like heron arms, Dlask, arms east build acr conversion kits from scratch or do you need to send them certain parts?
