Considering something non-restricted.
I've held the XCR and found them to be alittle front heavy, but acceptable. Haven't shot one yet but have read alot here on CGN about them. Seems to be an alright platform with most issues worked out now.

How's the ACR in comparison? Balance? Take down simplicity?
Estimate on making it NR?

Non-Restricted ACR's will be brought in eventually. The XCR has had some teething issues, but most of those have been sorted out with the newer ones. There have been some issues reported with the rebarreled ACR's, so I'd wait until some of the factory NR ones hit our shores. There is also the option of a Swiss Arms (my favourite). It doesn't take AR mags and is a little on the weighty side, but the accuracy and reliability are second to none.

Well that is good first reply. I was not aware of the NR ACR coming. Yes, I would go for the latest XCR version. The Swiss Arms is a nice upper tier unit, but I was leaning to something that takes AR mags.

I will be interesting in a NR ACR too. I also been told by
Queststar there will be a price drop

The XCR is the only platform which can take 10 rounds 7.62x39
Mag on the market

as the Swiss arm they are nice rilfe but 5 round mag don't work for me
For the price I got a lot of choice

I will perfer something take double 10 round LAR mag and NR
So I can go to the middle of nowhere to do my own tactical training

If you have the funds, you can add the NEA lower to a SAN rifle so that it takes AR mags and AR stocks. NR baby woo!

Looking good but expensive, might still get one!

I'm really looking forward to buying a non-restricted ACR as I've owned a XCR-L for 2 years and I'm always looking for something better/different.
In the meatime, XCR-L is the best choice for those who can't afford a SAN Green Rifle (my case).

There is a less expensive option for using 10rd mags in SAN rifles. http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=771444

As for the original question, the ACR seems to be a more refined platform in my opinion. I don't have a large number of rounds through either system though so my opinion is mostly based on stock adjustment, furniture feel and practicality as well as finish, and appearance.

ACR and XCR are great options for the money, but i think the CSA 58 is the best bang for the buck and you can get it in 223...The SAN rifle are awesome and would be my first choice in many regards but they are a little over priced in some for what you are paying for.

Well I have never held an ACR but i own an XCR, and I love it! it feels awsome the weight is great I simply love the fact that i can have 3 rifle cartridges with the same rifle
mine is chambered in 7.62X39 and it is alot of fun and the accuracy is surprisingly good so in a nutshell no regrets here I will be getting the 223 barrel soon as I have traded off my M4 and miss shooting it but I know this will be more fun and the NR status is so appealing

Personally, if you have your heart set on a NR ACR I would hold off until you can get one with the factory NR barrel (the aftermarket ones have had numerous "teething" issues). Or contact someone like Herron Arms to get one professionally manufactured.

Yes, I"ll wait for the factory NR barrels units to show up. Is there any ETA or prelim pricing anyone has hear of?

I've heard late Summer, Fall...? Not sure how realistic this is, though - or if it's just wishful thinking at this point - because Bushmaster is notorious for missing release dates. You can guarantee demand for the NR version will be through the roof (especially if we also see a price drop). If you're willing to spend a bit more I think it's certainly worth touching base with Herron to get a custom NR barrel manufactured/installed (with the potential to end up with a lighter match barrel).

I dont know how reliable this info is, but 2 people at my local range informed me that Milarm in Edmonton was expecting a shipment of NR ACRs in August...
