Acraglass Gel Too Granular!

It is the resin component which is lumpy right? Some of the components in the resin will come out of the solution due to storage condition. This will not harm epoxy if you fix it. Warm it up to about 50 C for a few hours and stirr well. If stored properly it will not happen again.
We buy our epoxy in 45 gal drums and before we get into one a drum heater goes on for several days and we shake well before pouring.

That's right Ian it's the resin that is grainy. I called Brownells about it and they acknowledge the "problem" but are not able to answer the question about why it is grainy. They said I could warm it up and it would change it's consistency to a smoother texture, they also said that it sets up just fine. I used it as it came from the jar and it set up fine but it was not as smooth as the last batch I used and it didn't sand as smooth as the old batch. I guess I will be warming it up if I want the smooth texture!
It bothers me that they know about it and still sell it! Obviously something has changed from the older batches and they aren't saying what! Brownells has always been good in the past about these things but I suspect that they stand to loose too much by replacing this batch.

They may not be aware of what it is but it is not a big deal. You don't have to use it warm, just get it hot and stir to get all the ingredients mixed back in. Let it cool down before you use it. Of course you could buy bedding material from us and eliminate all these problems.
