Gday fellas, the truck is laoded an im about to get on out of here for the night.

I finally got a Active Wallow on the go an active scrapes So that means there will be Stags chasing the Hinds around and with that You will hopefully find me only a few hundred meters behind the Stags :)


Its a private property Access bounding onto State Forest, ugly looking country but full of Brown Deer!


Im carting my Whelen along for the trip, 250gr hornadys but I also have the Cast Critter getter(375win) along incase I don't get onto a Stag, Friday morning I can hunt the thick Blackberry trails an take a Hind for meat for the Owners .


Not much room to move around though on this place so low impact will be the key, last light as they edge along the bush thickets an hopefully they eat long in the morning..

Fellas, it seems I jumped the Gun a little, but we can expect that :D

I hunted around yesterday evening and this morning quite a bit, climbed up a few hundred meters but just found trails and trails of sign.

I glassed a year old and a hind from afar, by the time I circled an come down the finger ridge they were on, I bumped the hind again an took a photo.

I set the Camera up on this Wallow, it is showing signs of use.. What I now predict happened was a Stag is almost ready, a Hind must be close and he has just done a loop of hes terrortory, scraping and wallowing hes scent around. im hoping the camera will tell me how often an if its am or pm he is turning up.

I did trek onto this on a Game trail leading up the ridge.. always a Treasure in my eyes, glad to have found a Old, 'going back' antler from a granddaddy.

Have to complain about the black berries, an the "black berry fingers".... there comes a point where they are OTT!!!!

Spank, I am waiting for a 30 Inch + trophy animal!

this month will be as good as any time to capitolize on the silly stags, an just hope Mr big turns up in the area.

but there is plenty fine meat for the taking there, will be back on meat hunt soon

Good buddy makes hunting knives and his handles are just splendid.
He's making me a knife for this fall and it'd be waaaaaaaaaay kewll
to have an Ahhzzie furr bone awn it.
