I have Rem 700 in 300 Win mag that I am bedding to an aftermarket stock. The action inlet of the new stock seems to be shallow and the action bolts only thread into the action about 3 full full turns before everything is tight. This is about 2-3 turns less than when the action bolts/action are tighted in the factory stock.

Is there a minimum action bolt threaded depth or # of turns in that I need to keep when tighting the action down to the stock?

Thanks

I would go out and get longer screws, however you need to be careful the screws don't bottom out before they are tight. The rule of thumb for maximum hold for any screw is 1 1/2 x the dia. You will never get this much on a Remington action.

3 threads will hold a barrel on an action... 3 threads should hold an action in if you don't over torque the screws... just snug them up.

... you can inlet the top and bottom metal as it should be done ... sitting high as it is now places the trigger within the trigger guard a bit weird...
