Action Cleaning Tube? do I need one?

Alright. Was looking up some vids on bore cleaning and this one guy was using an "action cleaning tube" to assist in cleaning.
Does it just help align the cleaning rod into the bore and also prevent solvent drips into the action it does it do more?

Also, I looked up "action cleaning tube" and did not find many results on google. Does it go by another name? Where can I get one?

"Bore Guide" is the proper name. If you plan on doing a lot of cleaning, then yes, buy one. It does help to keep the crud and gunk and broken bristles and dirty solvent out of the action.

Its called a bore guide, available at most places that sell firearms cleaning supplies. Its designed to keep solvent, oil and debris out of your action and keep the cleaning rod more or less aligned in the bore to prevent throat erosion. My tipton wont fit in my Savage's action due to the ejector so I just used a brass muzzle guide and clean from muzzle end, then clean the action out really well. The ejector is right in the way so it rubs the cleaning rod badly when cleaning from the chamber end, more than likely pushing the rod into the side of the bore. Any Savage owners know a better way around this?

Never used one on my rimfires, but bought a "universal" one for my Savage Centerfire. Would love one (for that gun) that fits more positively.
