Hey guys, I'm wondering if some one can offer there Thoughts. I have a Remington 870, that iv cut the stock down to mimic a houge short LOP stock, and put on a DA 12.5" barrel on it. This is my main bush gun for animal defense. I took it out shooting for the first time today since cutting down the stock.

I picked up some 3" magnum 00 Buck and 3" Magnum slugs thinking that they would have the most power for dealing with any problem.

What I found is after shooting ether of the above rounds, the action on my 870 cycles half way back, this happens right after the shell fires. Once I recover from the recoil and go to cycle the action it's already half way done. Some times this lead to a shell being ejected but not cycling a new one from the magazine.

When I shoot lighter loads like 2 3/4 00buck or even 2 3/4 slugs this does not seem to happen.

What I'm wondering is, is this my poor form that is causing this to happen or is there some thing wrong with my 870?

I did find with the magnum rounds some times my thumb of my right hand *grasping the stock* smacks in to my face. Perhaps I cut the stock too short.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Thanks guys that makes me feel a lot better, last thing I want is one of those magnum rounds going off out of battery. I'd hate to see what a 3 1/2 magnum round kicks like. Even the 3 inches hit hard out of this little light gun.

The 3 inchers really fling the action open you can get some damn fast shots off hehe.

Knock yourself out having fun with it.

Haha thanks Barney! I have been feeling a tingling sensation as of late. Must be time to buy another m305.

Here's what my 870 looks like now. For any one that's interested. It comes in at 30" long... I almost could fit a pistol grip on it!
