There are three pieces of gear you don't want to cheap out on if you can avoid it.
a) The Belt - nothing worse than a belt that doesn't hold your holster tight to your side or allows the holster to flop around on the draw. The Wilderness Belt & Clones work. Go 1 3/4" , provides the best support and is the widest allowed in IDPA.
b) The Holster - Blade Tech or Comp - Tec are excellent, there are a few others. Kydex is faster than leather for most people. Both wear on your guns finish.
c) Hearing Protection - buy the highest rated ear muffsyou can afford. Loss of hearing is a one way street. One that you don't have to go down
