Hey all;
My buddy was able to secure a few 9mm options before the freeze, and hes interested in making one of them his main to train with.

Beretta 92FS
HK USP9
Glock 19

He is considering the 92FS- He is considering adding a Sheild RMS type Red dot- what are the best solutions for this? For action shooting/Bullseye

Thanks!

Really depends on which he finds most comfortable and shoots best. Some people prefer Glocks, some 92s if they shoot them better. Personally, I'm not a fan of DA guns and prefer the modern strikers or SAs.

I suggest he try a firearm with a red dot first.
I shoot IPSC style shooting with open sights
And plate style (stationary timed) matches with a red dot.

I find the red dot takes a split second longer to aim compared to open sights.

YMMV I’m in my 50’s tho so you know.

I would suggest your buddy shoot all three and decide which one works best for him, fits his hand best etc. Pistols are an incredibly personal thing, what works for me might not work for you or him. All three of his pistols are capable of performing well in competition, he will have to figure out what he prefers DA or SA/Striker fired, metal or polymer. I’m personally a striker fired guy, I prefer the simplicity of draw and fire, no safety to remember, no double action to deal with. I have seen all of the mentioned pistols used successfully in competitions so he has a good trio to play with for sure
