I use a 20", rifle sighted barrel with an IC on an 870, but you can't go wrong with a modified choke.

Shoot 2 3/4" shells and # 5 or 6 shot.

IPSC I shoot a 28" VR 870 with extended mag, mod choke and Winchester AA 7.5" light.
As of yet I do not shoot IDPA which has more "practical" shotgun rules I believe and would necessitate a shorter barrel.
Rem 870 action is well renowned and will not let you down.

I have a 20'' 870 with only a turkey choke. Need to get other chokes.

I defy you to find any IDPA shotgun rules because there is no such thing; at least not officially. Afterall, the 'P' in IDPA stands for 'Pistol'.....

i dont think IDPA even mentions shotguns in the rule book- i may be wrong


BUT, i use a 870 Wingmaster with a +3 extension , 22 inch cylinder bore barrel for IDPA matches if we have a side match with shotgun involved
