Other than flipping a coin which would you choose to rebarrel and why? They take the same prefit barrels and will end up in a chassis. Plan is to swap a 22-250 barrel for a 250 savage barrel

I don't have any first hand experience with the 783 action, I did have an axis that I did a little bit of work on. The bastard was accurate. If I were you I would get in contact with Jerry at Mystic Precision and get his thoughts on the matter. He's built up rifles on both actions and is quite fond of the 783 over the axis, judging by his postings on the forum.

I've never owned an Axis (Handled a few.) but I have a 783 in .308 that will work out dandy fer my use. I find the 783 is a sleeker appearing unit as well as having a solidly built and well designed action. These are "sleeper" actions just itching for long range work. The basic 783's have a great reputation for accuracy. A well set up Axis can do a decent job as well.

It's all up to what ye want out of the beasties I reckon. Definitely talk to Jerry about your options for a chassis build.;)
