Active hearing protection

I bought the howard leights sport impacts, on sale in the ebay deals section for 45, ive heard some great reviews about em from places i trust, and I double up with a custom inner ear plug, also 10 bucks on ebay, just mash it together, shove it in and let it sit for a bit to form lol

ok. I ordered 4 pairs of surefire ep5's and 4 pairs of the howard leights. Will report on friday to see how they do. Amazon is good for sending SH%^ back if it doesn't do the trick.

i spend my day working outside at the Calgary airport refueling aircraft so i am in close proximity to very loud jet engines and many other noises and i have used these with great success for the last 4 years

Verdict: These are crap. My $25 pelter 105' s are better. Amazon is getting a box in the mail lol. I guess will just stick with what we have and double up.

Good choice. The NRR of the Leights show they are far inferior to your Peltor 105s. Electronic muffs are good for allowing you to hear range commands, but almost all of them are inferior to your Peltor 105s. My Pro Ears Gold at $250 US are a bit better than the Peltor 105's, but as you can see, you need to spend a lot of money for an active muff to get that level of NRR.

Best thing you can do now is to make sure the foam ear plugs (or whatever ear plugs you'll use) are properly inserted in the ears. Make sure they aren't sticking out part way. The seal is important. Next, make sure your Peltors are also fitting her properly. Make sure there are no gaps and that the seal is good. Give her a test at home with the TV or stereo and make sure you're doing all you can.

Also, look into the custom ear plugs like BenL mentioned (post #10).

Good luck!
