This thread is going great Wolverine. Cant wait for your next 'musings.'
Same remark here....I am an immigrant myself. Curious to know what you do for a living ? Usually the people who post this kind of garbage haven’t had a fulfilling career..or life in general. No wonder the liberals keep getting re-elected despite their terrible performance.
You are painting pretty broadly bud. I have the experience to comment, and while I will give credit where it is due, blind devotion is not helpful to anyone.Pretty pathetic some posters in here blame RCMP officers for what happened. Obviously, those idiots doing that have never had to stand up to evil in their lives ever...but they post like they are some kind of warriors. Disgusting. I do fight on the front line...all the respect to the officers at the front.
No..I don't agree with the RCMP overall positions on guns in Canada. But their officers do their best. And those idiots on here yapping about how stuff should be done are a joke.

So you believe your opinions...like "I know some guys in the trades that are by far more upstanding", which has no quantifiable value...is more important than the objectively factual statement someone has a criminal record? You seem to be suggesting that since the police don't have a crystal ball, then no criteria can be used. I disagree.
I doubt she had plates, or a carbine. She was likely wearing her issued 2A vest and had her service pistol. Furthermore, why was she engaging in deliberate vehicle contact with an armed suspect as a one officer car. Where was her back up? Why not follow and radio updates until appropriate resources could respond. Again, a zillion questions. I imagine, there is some epic CYA going on at the RCMP right now. I do have faith that an operational review will reveal what worked and what did not, but it will take three years. I do not have faith that RCMP management will implement the recommendations in any meaningful way as it will cost money.
Im SAYING that theres guys relegated to a career as transit police because they got into a fist fight with some guy [1] once when they where 25.
Getting anybody into a career after 35 is risky - while they may be more mature, they're less physically fit (on average) they will give you fewer years of service before retirement.
...
No it should not. Society has rapists, alcoholics and drug addicts, the mentally ill, the homeless, the ill-tempered, bullies, child abusers, and people who are emotionally reactive and explosive.
..
Be careful about the assumption you make. Despite the hiring practices, police forces do in fact reflect society. There are rapists, thieves, bullies, cowards and murders in the police force - just like in the regular population.

Actually if you goto post #77 but you probably won't. Is a screen shot of my phone. Of a text warning of 2 shootings happening in the Halifax area. Which ended up being nothing. But they listened to the criticism of the shooting on Sunday and started to use it. Can't fake a screen shot.

Consensual fights are not against the law in Canada. Assault is primarily the nonconsensual application (or threat of) physical force. Two guys can throw down all day long - until it escalates to causing bodily harm. You can't bash a semiconscious guy's head with a brick. You can't maim a guy. Fisticuffs? All day long.
Nothing about perp disguise as police, like I said...
The rcmp knew after the fact that it should have been used. The system was not put in place for police to use outside of amber alerts. It's not that the public made them realise they need to use it, at the time they had never needed to use it before and it was a developing situation. Now there is protocol.in place for all agencies in NS to use it. Before this week it wasnt setup that way.
Great post OP, thanks. I appreciate you making an assessment and comparison of the facts.
I think this is an incredibly difficult situation to second guess given how fluid and fast moving the situation was at the time. I notice that people react to this as if the locale was a group of city blocks, rather than a widespread rural area. This jerk was stopped by the sacrifice of one RCMP officer and the alert thinking of another.
So the cop who has 30 calls in the queue is going to go through and complete not one but two arrest packages when he can chalk it up to a consensual fight?
Bottom line is the world is not as simple as you think it is.
