Actually looking for someone to assemble an SKS kit

Posted this in another subform and it was suggested I try here instead so here I am!

I'm a noob on CGN so, mods, if this thread belongs elsewhere, please move accordingly and my apologies.

I recently bought an SKS kit off of Marstar but, foolishly, didn't look into it that much before actually making the purchase. It was a kit that was for sale online recently and consisted of a Russian made Chinese issue SKS with an ATI Strikeforce 6-position folding stock, scope and mount.

In any case, there was no indication that there would be "some assembly required" so it was quite the surprise when I received it, covered in limonene/grease with parts in boxes, bayonet and all

After following the instructions to the T and the help of someone who is generally quite handy with hunting rifles, no luck in assembling it. Some dremeling was done and lots of blisters trying to squeeze together the trigger group but... no success.

That said, I'm looking for a pro that would be able to do this for me at this point and would like to know if anyone has someone to recommend in Quebec. Specifically the Laval/Montreal/Laurentians areas.

Thank you very much,
Paul.

For the trigger group make sure its in then put the rifle on the ground then use your knee to pust it back togther. The weight of your body will get it to lock in just make the front part is in correctly and it just snap in easy. Sometimes it needs some weight behind it

In theory, I thought it would be easy as well! I saw videos on youtube of 14 year old kids (or what appears to be...) taking the rifle apart and putting it back together with nothing but a bullet tip... For some reason everything on this is stiff as hell and some people significantly bigger than myself had to force to get anything to budge. I know it shouldn't be this hard... but it has been a nightmare.

I know. I've tried the above. But now, I want to pay someone, ideally with some credibility and possibly some certification!, to put it together and possibly even test it! I posted this initially in the gunsmithing section hoping someone would contact me but no such luck :(

The reason why gunsmiths aren't jumping in is because what you're doing is where gunsmiths are not needed and bubba arrives.
It's just another Tupperware stock on an SKS. Grind, dremel until it fits is the answer.
Trigger group should drop in with a hard smack of the palm. That's all I ever needed to do in any SKS. Check the original stock and new one for dimensions.

Comrade, fixing great Russian rifle is like fixing anything else in Motherland: More hitting! Satellite is broken... smash it. Comrade wants a coat in colour other than grey... Whack. Rifle does not go together... beat it like a dissident pig.

One thing for sure my friend; when rifle is together, loc tite will be unnecessary. Unlike metal capitalist broomstick XCR ;)

+1 they are tight at first, mine was too. but it will loosen up after a couple full disassembly and cleanings. I'm not sure about fitting the new stock though. All i know is when i got my SKS i watched youtube videos to learn the disassembly and thought something was wrong, watching some 16 year old take his apart with ease and having problem myself. as for the trigger group, the reciever has to be sitting perfectly against the stock, otherwise it wont go in.

Find a rubber mallet make sure everything is aligned and then give a good few whacks. That is the only way to get it in after a thorough cleaning that is. No need for a gunsmith. But if you insist find someone through the phone book in your emmidiate area. Most retailers or ranges have one. Good luck and happy safe shooting.
