I just got a new Savage 12 FV. The trigger has no creep or overtravel, which is good, but I can't get the trigger pull below 35 ounces which is not so good. I had hoped to get it down to about 2 lbs. My understanding from the Savage promotional material was that the trigger on this rifle, as on the 10 FP could be adjusted down to 1.5 lbs.

I've read that the standard hunting trigger is adjustable from 3 to 6 lbs. That seems to be the trigger on my 12 FV. There is also a target accutrigger adjustable from 6 oz to 1.5 lbs. What adjustment range is the 12 FV trigger supposed to have?

So what's the difference in the trigger mechanisms? Is there anything I can do to my trigger that will allow me to adjust it lighter? I've heard something about a replacement spring from SSS and I read one comment about carefully cutting coils off the adjustment spring in my accutrigger. Anybody know anything about these ideas?

Any comments or polite suggestions?

yours is adjustable from 1.5 to 6lbs approximately. you may want to call savage and see what they will do before you cut any springs and void your warranty. or just double check you've adjusted the spring enough.

LOL.. I ran into this.. Savage told me I couldn't measure trigger pull and my scale said 2.5 pounds was wrong.. Basically they were polite but told me to F O.

I simply install a rifle basix or SSS trigger now...

Don't snap and twist...contact SSS and buy Competition trigger, and if that's too much $$$, then purchase their Upgraded Spring replacement for Accutrigger.........I did both ;)

ps. for two Savages....and the spring works great, and really light....Mystic knows

How light is "really light"?

Are we talking a few ounces or 1lb +?
