Adding a mag extension / 870

Ive dremeled and drilled them out i prefer the dremel/file way personally less chance of the spring/follower getting hung up.
 
Would anyone be able to provide a description on how to safely remove the detents? Brownells has stated that if they are filed too much material will be removed? I have never heard of drilling them out. I am open to whatever method will work and not damage the mag tube.

I just drilled the detents out with a power drill. then cleaned off the burrs with the dremel to make sure it was smooth. takes 5 minutes. when you re install the bbl, the band covers the holes so cosmetically, you'll never even know.

After a lot of Internet research I feel that drilling the magazine tube (1/4" bit) and using a dremel to clean it up is by far the best method. Will give it a shot shortly.
