Have any of you previously installed a QD stud fitting to an A2 stock?

My STAG 10 build, which is a hunting, mid range gong shooter, do it all rifle, I decided to outfit it with an A2, for simplicity.
Really want to use my 2 point BFG Vickers with it now, and is already set up with 2x QD sling swivels at each end.

I was thinking of installing a fitting resembling this
Any experience on the subject appreciated!

Pretty damn easy with that kind of nut. Take off the buttplate and you can pick a spot where the nut will fit below the buffer tube in the cleaning kit pocket. You'll probably have to remove some material inside for the nut to reach the socket, but it's easily done with a Dremel.

The link below is an arfcom thread of somebody doing similar;

With some google skills, there were one or two writes up that we’re fairly in depth on how to do exactly what you want with the exact part you have and AR15.com I believe.

I agree there are a few write ups here and there, was looking for first hand experience,
And was also wondering if the stock cracked in the end with longer term use.

Lerch., thanks for the link.
During my google searches it had not popped up.
Sometimes my English writting is not at it’s best and don’t get the results I want.

Rebel, it’s a question of opinion, and you know what they say about them lol.
PRS adds weight to a rifle, which I am keeping as light as possible.
And that moe is plain ugly, prefer to rock the A2.

Keeping this rifle as light as possible.
If I go to Anticosti island with my buddies, they end up walking a few KM in the field with their gear.
I was thinking the Stag 10 slinged with a 2 point padded vickers, ordered MRA ultralight handguard and MRA fluted 18.6’’ barrel.
AAC blackout so I can shoot the sucker without ear defenders.
Still debating on scope, looking towards NF 2-10x42 compact or 4x32 ACOG with a piggyback RMR.

All this to say that, if this QD swivel mount should fail half way in the woods, I wouldn’t be a happy camper.

Edit, reading that entire AR15.com pour got me thinking.
If once my adapter is screwed in and tight using red loctite, from inside the stock if I do use JB weld around it and fill the voir around the dremeled styrofoam, it should add and extra layer of protection from getting loose/cracking.

Let us know how it goes. I will likely do the same thing.

Do you have a link to that qd plug?

I can’t hotlink directly to RDSC’s website but they do stock them. They’re made by Noveske. Around 34.99 I believe.

Suppose I could try just posting the link.

Yes that is exactly where I got it.
Had to look long and hard in the store to add stuff to make shipping worth it.
Seems like Mlok QD mounts are out of stock everywhere.

Ended up adding ferro concepts slickster shoulder pads as someone suggested me in another thread.

If ever you wish to combine orders to make it worthwhile,
Canadian Cowboy Tactical has got these noveske flush mounts also.

"QD flush cup" or "QD push button bases" are the ticket for search results. There are several great tutorials, I'll edit and add them to this post. I have an Atlas one, I just haven't installed it yet. They come in a couple different configurations, depending on whether you have access to the back side of your installation location.

Edit: I believe Grovtec is the best option. It is threaded so you just drill your hole, thread it with the cup, and then permanently install it with a touch of epoxy.

This system looks perfect for a wood stock, fiberglass stock, full plastic (not hollow) stock.
The A2 just ain't got that much meat to thread on to.
The Noveske set-up is officially ordered, we'll see how it turns out.

I do it lots, to ARs and to anything else that needs a flush cup. It's really straight forward and simple. You'll have to clear some of the foam around the nut in the stock for an AR.

Here's one on a stag-10 I posted in a stag-10 thread a while back

I prefer these ones for installing into hollow stocks:

you can get them at brownells or have them ordered from your gun store.

Thanks for sharing,
This is exactly what I was aiming for.
Did you install one on both sides?

Right now I listened to a local, and it makes sense so far, will need to research this a bit more before drilling my hole.
I'll explain,
I'm a RH shooter, sling 2 point BFG Vickers, he had me setup one swivel attach point on the buttstock, RH side of rifle,
And the other attach point, on the muzzle end of free float tub, on the LH side on rifle.
When walking, and sling snugged tight, muzzle is pointing 45 degrees downwards, and the buttstock is firm to my chest, no wobbling around.

Now to see if this makes sense in the practical world, before I get drilling!

There is a QD on the other side too, in the same place. If you use a short stepped drill bit it will be quick and simple, just remember to mark with tape on the bit where you want to stop drilling

I always do QD on outside of butstock. Everything else becomes a cluster#### when transitioning.

My AR is set up exactly that way sling position wise, Vickers instead of Vtac though.
It’s nice to have confirmation I was directed in the right direction initially,
Will drill my hole on the outside for sure now!
