I've seen folks add a pice of wood or some other material to the bottom of their magazines to aid in grabbing it in CQB or service rifle matches. The LAR-15 mags come to mind. How did you go about it. I'm looking at adding length to M14 mags so they can be rested on the ground and used monopod style like the AR folks do with the 5/30 mags. I'm looking at adding 2.25" to the 5/20 mags so they are the same length as the original issue 30 rounders the E2 used.
I haven't experimented yet but I don't think using duct tape or electrical tape around a piece of wood is going to cut it with the rifle weight and recoil.
