is this a hard thing to do?
I looked and couldn't really figure how to add it in. Does it require special tools?
thanks

take the buttstock off, then take an AR wrench to the castle nut and remove. be careful as there is a spring in there that will pop out when the old plate gets loose enough. remove the parts, install the sling mount, then re-assemble. its about a 10 min job.
AR wrench is about $30?

Dont forget to watch out for the buffer retainer and spring as well as the takedown pin retainer and spring. They will both want to come out and play when you disassemble the tube.

cool thanks. i usually youtube vid stuff for turotials on things like this. will have to search for a good video.

Its super simple, like 2mins. Sit lower in lap. Loosen Jam Nut, Unthread that to the max ( watching the spring ) pull back plate. Remove the take down spring. Push down buffer retainer, and start unthreading the buffer.

Slide off plate, replace. Thread in tube, re assemble the Buffer Retainer and Spring. Slide back plate, insert the spring. slide plate forward making sure not to kink the spring. and then tighten the jam nut.

One other thing to watch for, is that you dont let the castle nut wrench contact the threads on your buffer tube. I marred mine doing this. No issue beyond cosmetic, but if you want your rifle to be pristine it's something to watch for. Luckily, I'm not a safe queen kind of guy, and a sharpie fixed it just fine for me.

thanks for the heads up.

Just be aware that if the castle nut is staked it may be just a little harder to remove (OK a lot harder). On a DPMS lower I had to get a dremel out to grind out the staking to get the f-ing castle nut to turn.
