The Ross bayonet is for the M1910 and it’s a bonus to your collection. During WWI there are various opinions about who altered the M10 bayonets, one example is they were altered in the field by reshaping the point. In Kiesling book, he states the blades were altered in England, in the book by Carter and Walter it states, “They were manufactured with pointed blades”. Finding an unaltered one is quite a score, the hilt has some pitting, but nevertheless it’s a great piece if you are working on a Canadian collection.

thank you! the ross is one of my fav pieces, the others i got becuase they will fit on my enfield, is the one i got altered or unaltered? i loved it because it was old and you could see its been used,

Your bayonet is unaltered which makes it rare.
The Ross MkI sometimes referred to as (M1905) bayonets all have unaltered blades and people often confuse them with the MkII (M1910) blades.
The MkI (Model 1905) has a thin cross guard with a stepped muzzle ring and a recess with a split annular spring with three flattened surfaces to reduce rattle on the barrel. On the MkII that step was omitted to reduce manufacturing costs.
The MkI and MkII bayonets have different names according to whoever is doing the research. One author will reefer to them, as M1905 and another will use MkI.
Skennerton uses the MkI & MkII in his book “British & Commonwealth Bayonets”

Next thing you need is a Ross MkIII. Also a #4L.E. Russels are good knives I have two of them. The small one for deer hunting and the big one for moose. Keep the shovel for home defense as there is no safe storage requirement for it.
