Hello,
I am looking at picking up a single action army or something similiar, wondering if anyone has any advice. I was looing at the Pietta or ruger options. I have some ruger guns and love them, but haven't heard much about pietta. Your Help is appreciated

The original style guns suffer from most of the original type problems. Leaf springs are prone to breakage, and many of the small parts are fragile. The Rugers are almost indestructable, and are easier to repair (in my opinion). With the newer guns being built on the same sized frames as the originals, there is really no reason to look at the Italian alternatives, unless you are seeking authenticity.

I have a ruger new model vaquero and a Pietta 1873. Yesterday at the range the front sight blew off the Pietta. I only shoot 3.7 grains of trailboss in this gun so recoil wasn't a factor. The Pietta is ok if you want originality but I wish I had bought another Ruger fwiw
