Adjustable butt plates

Bit of a continuation of another thread but I think it may deserve it's own place. I don't really need my o/u to fit like a semi. I just want it to fit me better than it does. It has an adjustable and I've played with it a bit, I've found the best results I could on the patterning board. I've shot it quite a bit and sometimes I shoot it very well but if I'm off my concentration just a little bit, the stock just does not land in the correct spot and its down hill from there.
I would like to add an adjustable butt plate to see if I can iron out the issues of what I believe is an inconsistent mount. I'm curious to hear what brand and or types are available in Canada and what kind of results folks have had with them.
I don't expect a magic solution to a few missed birds, I own my short comings in that department.

Just a question, if you install and setup your adjustable plate for perfect fit and then suffer a lapse of concentration and don't put on shoulder correctly, what then?
Maybe gun mounting drills and practice be more what dr. ordered. I'm going through a similar issue and realize I need to improve my muscle memory.

I try to keep things simple. work smarter, not harder and all that. the more variables that can be removed mechanically, the fewer things i have to fix mentally. I like tinkering with guns, I mod guns for other sports to get the most out of them so I think it is a reasonable goal to do the same with a shotgun.
I've shot this particular gun since early this spring and have some degree of success with it but it just bites me at the first chance i give it. I don't think there's any right way to fake happiness or gun fit? the other options are of course to sell it or let it sit in the safe.
the reason I think its a fit issue is that by the time I have it in the right spot to shoot, only a small portion of the stock is actually contacting the proper spot on my shoulder. it is near impossible to replicate the same mount over and over with half the butt pad off my shoulder.

If only half the stock is touching your shoulder then an adjustable pad might make sense. While I haven't seen you shoot, based on your description I'm wondering whether there isn't a stance issue causing the gun to be mounted high on your shoulder.

The most common adjustable butt plates on the market are Gracoil, Morgan and Jones. Not sure if anyone in Canada is carrying them or whether they ship to Canada directly. IIRC Brownells carries graco and will ship them here.

Years ago at the Grand I had an adjustable butt plate installed by Todd Nelson. Their system worked well enough. Whether they will sell you their system without installing it is a question I can't answer. What I liked about it most was that you could adjust the plate without having to remove the recoil pad.

No doubt my technique is flawed, but I find that the mount is far less consistent with this gun more so than my other shotgun.

I bought a plate from stock positioning system. It's a through the pad single point adjuster I have not got it installed yet still need to get a grind to fit pad to go with it. Anyone have a go to brand? Or don't bother to try types to avoid?

Sounds like the same one that I installed on my wife's Browning. I went with a Kick-EEZ (purchased at the same time from SPS), used my bench sander to grind it down to fit. Messy, but ended up looking great.

I ordered a kick eez last night from Gagnon. They called this morning to say that they are out of stock on the one i want. Hope to have it in next week or so.

I put a Graco on my Beretta semi to increase rhe LOP and drop the pad down 1". It seems to have helped a lot. They make a couple different types depending on what you need to do. I had to install one due to the stock not having enough drop for me. And after shooting 200 rounds my face would be sore for three days. I would tend to miss high all the time after a bit of shooting.

I finally got the adjustable plate fitted and found a limbsaver pad that was slim enough to suit my lop without cutting my stock. I don't think it would have been a big deal to cut it? But I have never done one and was not anxious to try it out, if I didn't have too. I am happy with the end result. I seem to get a more consistent mount now, I've only had a chance to shoot it a couple times since I installed the plate but I can see a difference in my scores with the gun and it gives me a little more confidence when I get in the stand to take the shot. I won't win any medals or such but I can see me getting back the few birds I was dropping for no real reason other than the gun just didn't feel right when it came up.

I was going through a slump and figured it was time to get my stock to fit better. I have long arms, and need more LOP, so ordered a Graco. They ship to Canada. Installed it on the stock without cutting to bring LOP closer to what I need. I bought the adjustable length version, so I can make it longer yet, or make changes for winter clothing as I shoot all winter. I needed the drop in the plate as well, as I tended to mount the gun very high on my shoulder. Seems to be working well.
