Can someone point me at a source for these preferably?
What I would recommend for you would be the Karsten adjustable cheek piece.
It will cost MUCH cheaper then getting a McMillan saddle cheek rest installed into your stock and will work the same.
I bought mine from Karsten himself, he shipped it up here for me and took me a whole 10 min to install it. He sends directions and 2 bolts/nuts with rubber padding that you can install onto the rest itself for comfort.
Very very easy install and works great. I adjust mine between 3 shooters and holds the spot without moving at all.

I believe that I've the same rifle as you; Savage 10fcp w. HS stock in .308. However, my model is black rather than green.

Do you find those 2 carriage bolts protruding from the cheekrest comfortable to rest upon?
I can understand it being cheap and fast to install and am sure it works, just looks kinda crude.

Well mine is a 10FP but I replaced the stock with the Bell & Carlson Tactical stock, so it's not a factory savage part.

Looks don't matter to me, saves me the bunch of bucks for other shooting 'needs'. It's far from a McMillan setup but for anybody that wants a quick upgrade, I recommend it.
Before I drilled the holes, I tested the cheek piece and found it comfy in the spot it's at. My cheek doesn't rest on the bolts at all. If I had to, I can re-drill the holes a bit lower to have a different option but I haven't had complaints from the shooters of my rifle about the bolt heads.

I doubt he made the knobs....
BUT you have option of 3 different bolts/nuts for the cheek rest incase you don't like the big bulky knobs. I just use these as they are fine and easy to adjust.
Still beats the price of a McMillan saddle install, might not look as 'cool' but saves a bunch of bucks for those that won't throw money away easily.
I also installed the Karsten kit on my Savage 12VLP original stock. I'me very pleased with it. Here is Karsten's contact information and a photo of the cheek rest on my VLP:

As you can see, there are 3 type of bolts that can be had with the cheek piece. A sleeker design or a more 'adjustable' by hand on the go knob.

LongDraw, I believe he was referring to the 'convex' head of the bolt, which still don't bother me nor my shooters one bit.
Yes the McMillan stocks have the option of the adjustable cheek piece with a nice option of 'adjustment' wheels, but once again...you pay a lot for it with the stock or without a McMillan stock.

I've toyed with the idea of adding one to my LE2B but haven't reconciled what I would do with the Blackhawk cheek pad I have on the rifle. Glue it to the cheekrest perhaps?

You can buy rests that strap onto the butt of the stock...such as the Black Hawk

Where can you buy these? The picture shows the piece elevated about a quarter inch I guess.. are those adjustable to a higher height? They look pretty slick!
