Greetings all!

Looking for some consumer advice on cheek-rest options for an M4 style buttstock on my Mossberg 500. I recently picked up a red-dot for it but it sits too high on the piccy rail and I can't seem to get a good cheek weld. Any info on a rest that gives a good amount of adjustment? Only one I've seen is an ATI option that only provides 3/8" of travel :(

If you went with a messa set up you can use a magpul stock and they have cheek rest risers
Or the messa urbino has a adjustable cheek rest
How are you mounting your rds? Can you us a lower mounting platform?

It's mounted on a 7" picatinny rail on the receiver. Don't rly see another option for mounting it any lower. I looked at the Mesa stocks but trying to avoid having to buy a new stock altogether, might have to though. I may end up going the DIY route and moulding some black plastic around the stock. Thanks for the input! :)

What kind of buttstock is on it? Standard carbine stock or aftermarket? Fab Defense makes a cheek riser for their buttstocks that has alot of travel, magpul makes fixed risers for their moe/ctr stocks and Ive seen but do not know where to get snap on ones for standard carbine stocks.

my aimpoint is mounted to my 887 shotgun using a weaver 30mm low scope ring, thats what i ment i had the mount off my ar but it sat too high so i used the scope and its good now.

I have the ATI stock as well, do you find 3/8" is high enough to get a good sight picture with a red dot?

I find at its highest setting I get a satisfactory cheek weld. I use a Bushnell zoom dot mounted with Leupold low 30mm vertically split rings on the Mesa Tactical receiver rail. Anything higher and I don't think I'd have an acceptable weld.

The 3/8" measurement does not include the thickness of the cheek rest itself. You will be resting your cheek on material 1/2" higher than a bare M4 stock.

It looks as if the distance from my rest to the centre of my sight is about 1 5/8"- 1 3/4" with this setup.

I'm using a Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 that I picked up cheap on eBay.

Actually now that I look at it you're right, that cheek riser on the ATI stock looks like it will do the job. I'm using an older style of the ATI M4 stock, any idea if they sell the cheek rest seperately? Also nice AR grip, this ATI grip has a really cheap, plasticky feel, will definitely be replacing it soon.

Thanks for the info!

The TRS-25 sits lower than mine so you should be good to go. i'm not sure if the rest is sold separately but you could try a WTB ad on the EE.

Switching to a Canadian made NEA adapter is a great choice. I'm waiting for a hogue grip to replace the A2 grip and an oversized safety to make it easier to operate with the pistol grip...then I'll be happy. Good luck with your upgrades!

Those NEA adapters are awesome but a little pricy, I'm already verging on my accessories running more than the actual gun cost me ;) I can see the upside though in being able to mount a much wider variety of grip options. Sigh, my bank account really hates me for having joined CGN!
