Can any of you guys recommend one(in stock) that you can adjust AND LOCK with the handguard on? I see alot that you can adjust but have to remove the handguard after to lock the set screw in position, it will be on a carbine length gas system so no access from the end of the handguard either.

Give the guys at Tier One Armoury in Edmonton a call, they have a couple in stock and can probably order whatever you want if they don't have one that works for you.

RDSC has them in stock rdsc.ca/collections/carbine-parts-gas-blocks-tubes/products/superlative-arms-adjustable-gas-block-bleed-off-black-melonite-0-750

Its my new go to store for cool stuff, didnt think they would have an adj gas block tho !

Thanks! I thought I had checked RDSC!

My gas block adjusts from the front. It came with a longer allen key but was still too short, so I cut the short end of the key off and epoxied the long end into a broken aluminum cleaning rod I had to make it longer.
I can adjust the block from the front with the rail on and it works great.

Does the bleed off style make a mess of the handguard?

The superlative arms gas block (at least the one I'm familiar with), works like a normal adjustable gas block until you open it a certain distance, and then it becomes a bleed off. So you have the option of it not bleeding off unless you want it to.

If you have it bleed off, it bleeds off straight forward, so your handguard may not get dirty, but you will get carbon on your barrel over time.

Personally, I would just use it not with the bleed off.

But they work pretty good and are click adjustable from the front which is really nice.

There are some real stupid designs out there where you have to remove the gas block to adjust it.

After watching a couple vids, I'm not sure why this is would be wanted unless you're running suppressed. I see those guys find it a few decibels quieter but one adjusted to the point that it starts to use the bleed function starts to slow bullet velocities. Average was a 70 fps loss, not sure if that matters to a guy

It's for a competition rifle, so this paired with the proper muzzle device should practical eliminate any recoil or muzzle rise.

I need one because NEA builds crappy guns. Once its adjusted properly you dont need to touch it usually.

Totally agree, I run adjustable blocks and and JP buffer kits on both my 223 and 308's.

I should have been more specific, I was referring to this Superlative block and it's bleed off design.

Restrictive is the way to go. And, I wouldn't bother with a lock on the setting unless you run a cheap block. The detent on my SLR is not letting anything slip and most guys give me #### for how rough I am on my rifles. Plus it's a hot 308, way more recoil and pressure than a 556 is going to see. Just my 2 cents

Sorry, im not being clear on the bleed off design, this might explain what I'm getting at:

I used a JP on a 10.5", valve is accessible through one of the handguard holes (FF tube), works very well for me, smoothed it out considerably.

If your rifle is over gassed an adjustable gas block will fix it. Fixing the gas flow is better than using heavier buffers and springs IMHO. I have an adjustable JP on my precision rig set as closed as possible and it’s incredibly soft shooting.
