I am trying to sight in a Sauer O/U combo 16 ga. x .243 win. The windage (left/right) is done by drifting the front mount, and I have that in done. The elevation is a head scratcher. The gun is shooting about 4 inches low at 25 yards. The scope is a jena rail mount with 2 turrets on the top. The back turret appears to me a fine focus adjustment knob, and the front does move elevation to the point 4 inches low of point of aim to about 12 inches below point of aim. On the rear mount is a large screw head on the left side of the mount - is that an additional elevation adjustment? Or do I have to think about doing some shimming of the scope and or mount?

The .243 barrel shoots quite well. I'd like to get it to point of aim, so I can carry it the bush. I think it would make a fun bush gun.

If you cantake a picture of the mount I should be able to help -- if you run out of elevation with the front turret, you may have an issue with the level of the scope.

Many of these mounts do indeed have an elevation adjustment that can be adjusted by loosening a certain set screw or 2 and then adjusting and re-tighten the set screws.

If you try and adjust these bases without loosening the correct set screws, you can shear screw heads and make a mess.

But some mounts don't have a vertical adjuster.
