My 10/22 out of the box, shoots a little to the left. From what I can tell it looks like I need to tap the front sight and move the sight in its dovetail a hair to the left, which should adjust the sights properly. Am I correct in that this is the way to adjust lateral sight adjustments? The rear sight appears to be vertical adjustment.

The rear sight is the one that is generally moved over to adjust windage, assuming it is mounted in a dovetail (mine was).
Unless your front sight is off I would leave it alone.

Yes it appears both are tapped in with a dovetail, and the rear sight adjustable by leaning forward and backwards.

Alright thanks! I'll bring a punch and a small hammer with me to the range the next time I'm there for the rear sight plate.

The elevation is fine, it's just shooting slightly to the left.

Is the front sight centered in the dovetail ? if so do not move it . windage and elevation adjustments are done using the back sight . if poi needs to go right move the rear sight right in the dovetail .
