My 10/22 out of the box, shoots a little to the left. From what I can tell it looks like I need to tap the front sight and move the sight in its dovetail a hair to the left, which should adjust the sights properly. Am I correct in that this is the way to adjust lateral sight adjustments? The rear sight appears to be vertical adjustment.

The rear sight is the one that is generally moved over to adjust windage, assuming it is mounted in a dovetail (mine was).
Unless your front sight is off I would leave it alone.

Its a folding sight,the folding is not for elevation adjustment.
Elevation is adjusted by loosening the 2 small screws and sliding the sight plate on the rear sight.
