Hey guys, I got my Glock 17fs, loving it, but as you know, ammo isn't free. So I'm looking to get an Advantage Arms conversion kit. I'm having a hard time finding a supplier or shop that can sell them to me. I know the American price is 265$, and I found them at Wolverine supplies... For 477$ (NOT including tax and shipping). Is that the price of them in general for Canadians? Seems kinda high... Maybe it's just me.

Anyone have experience with those kits, where to get them and what to expect in terms of price?
 
Ya, that sounds like the right price. AA is backordered. I am looking for one, but run into high prices. Money better spent on a used Ruger Mk II perhaps.

Keep an eye open for EE offers. You need to be quick or have a deep pocket.
I've been told you can find US dealers willing to ship one with the word "tools" on the package. Could be just a myth.
I bought mine from someone who I assume bought a bunch while in the states. I still ended up paying 450 with an extra Mag though. I did find it here on the EE.
That said, don't change your mind about buying one. They are GREAT. Don't have to register it and it's silly simple to switch the slides. I go through hundreds of rounds at the range. I can't load the mags fast enough.
It's great for kids and new shooters as well.
Enjoy your Glock. There are many like it, but that one is yours.:)

EE officers? I still want that conversion kit, I want to practice with the grip angle and everything that my glock has, except the ammo pricetag.

You don't have to register them?

The Ruger, plus maybe 5-6 bricks of ammo which, after you shoot,*
leaves you with one used Ruger and no way to shoot your Glock on the cheap.

Expensive as the AA kit is, it is more fun to shoot a .22lr Glock than a Mark II/III. I don't think it's fair to say a Ruger would be an equal substitute.

(Not to knock the Ruger nor the logic of saving money for ammo both are sensible paths.)

If $525 all said and done for a new AA kit really is too steep then I agree the Sig Classics at a shade over $700 (not the Mosquito) are the next most logical option. Maybe the CZ Kadet.

* - won't take long because shooting bricks of .22lr is just plain fun right?

The Glock frame is the registered part so you don't have to register the kit. Spend the extra cash on the AA kit it will pay for itself within a few range trips, the best way to get good with your Glock is to practice with it.
 
'Bought mine from Police Ordnance...

Functions well only with highest powered .22lr ammo.

Strangely mine worked best with Rem. Yellow-Jackets even though the manual suggests round bose ammo only

I agree with you... but the absolute "suck" is paying for those AA magazines on top of the AA kit! That's the deal breaker for me. Having just 1 magazine sucks, which is why I'd go with the Ruger MarkIII 22/45. :)

If money is no object though, I'd have a dedicated Glock with an AA kit and 1/2 a dozen mags for it ;)
 
I have to think that anyone recommending you to buy a Ruger instead of an AA kit, has never owned an AA kit. I used to had a really nice S&W 422. After I bought the AA kit I sold the 422, cause I never used it. Go ahead and buy the kit you'll love it.
 
F'in AA mags. I need 2 more but they are hard to come by and pricey.

And I wouldn't want to practice speed loading with them for
fear of breaking the small plasticky bits. They are the kit's
Achilles' heel.

The one good thing about the AA kit vs the cz Kadet and stock
sig classic is that the slide-lock-back-on-last-round actually works
as it does on a normal slide ie it locks open.
 
Found me a connection that will get me the AA from Police Ordinance for 400$. They sent the order today, I hope to hear something tomorrow. I really want it and I'm happy I'll be able to get it.
