Good day CGN'rs,
My nephew is competing in 10m air rifle at a high level (going to national) in the home country. He has just bought a Walther LG 400E. All this is very very new to me. I know nothing about air rifles.
Looking for stores, forums and advise on this regard.
They have limited access to firearms there, as an example he was advised to clean his air rifle with Butch's BoreShine!

Thanks for reading.

There are forums that have more of a focus on air rifle and 3P competitive shooting than general firearms forums. One place to begin is Target Talk
h t tps://targettalk.org/

If your nephew is expecting to compete at national championships "in the home country" (he's not in Canada?), he would do well to talk to other shooters, coaches, and officials

In Canada there are a few places that sell competition air rifles and related equipment. See, for example, Nordic Marksman, Tesro Canada, targetshootingproducts.com and Cibles Canada Targets.

Thanks Grauhanen,
Yes he is not in Canada. He is already competing at provincial level there.
Since I do not know anything about the completion scene, I cannot give him advice. And he asks me to send him accessories and maintenance stuff. Which is fine, but I want to send him the right stuff and not Butch's BoreShine for use in a very expensive air rifle!
Thanks for the leads to the stores and forums.
Cheers!

If your looking locally for airgun supplies Airgun Source in Peterborough carry a good selection of maintenance supplies.

Site sponsor Nordic Marksman has some nifty air rifle stuff.

Target air rifles normally are shooting in the 600fps range- leading isn't typically an issue. I have used butch's in a break barrel before- but it was a "barn find" and was very leaded up (starting to lose the lands). You need specially sized tools- .17 cal powder burning stuff doesn't fit. For a match rifle I wouldn't think it would ever be needed.

Air rifles are expensive to buy but very cheap to shoot. Ask him what he needs!

You might want to poke around more Europe-centric resources. Airguns seem to be much bigger in the UK and Germany than North America

Air rifle barrels use softer metal, I would be very careful using any cleaning products or tool made for powder burners.

Which Country we talking about?
If in EU or Eastern EU I can help you out with couple of sources over there more oriented to higher level target shooting. (you can still use your online shopping to make gift purchases :) )
Second, buying equipment in Canada and shipping out is a double expense (it was first imported here plus local taxes plus shipping again), my best knowledge is that the prices may be way more friendly "outside".
Yes, where we are right now this is a Canadian forum, but the airgun section is very modest.
One of the biggest airgun forums in the world is airgunnation.com and a little different but more technical questions at gatewaytoairguns.org
also both of those are less sensitive for differing in opinions... ;)
