So I've been racking my brain for months on what I want to mount on a mossberg MVP Scout in 308.
My intent for this gun is to be my general deer hunting rifle.
Most of my hunting time is dusk/dawn as that seems to be the most time I can manage to hunt with work schedule. For this fact low light is leaning me away from looking at a scout scope. As the long eye relief would cause low light shots to be harder than a standard eye relief.
I think I've settled what specs I want in a scope, just now need to find them in a package. Of course these may change in this thread.
Zoom: 3x9 to 3.5x14
Objective: 40mm+
Here's where things get tricky.... illuminated reticle? Yes or No? I'm leaning towards yes but it has to be really adjustable as I've found some I've used in the past were always too bright even on the "low" setting.
Finally BDC reticle, mil-dot or Fine Cross hairs.
Most of my hunting will be 200m shots but there is possibility of 400m so I don't want to go too low on the max zoom.
trying to keep the price point around $400 seems to be my issue though.
Thought I have everything I wanted in a nikon PROSTAFF 5 3.5-14X40 Matte BDC but they don't come with illuminated reticles... only the 50mm models and those are a lot more $$.
Is an illuminated worth keeping on my have list?
Thoughts/opinions/ offers to sell haha
