hi guys, Ill bet this get asked a lot here;(correct me if im wrong)
will a dies set of one maker work in a press of another?
there is 3 calibers that im looking at, the two are non issue, quite popular, .243 Win and 30-06 Springfield, the one i been looking for, and im most interested in is .303 Brit.
so far i only checked basspro website but it looks like non of the big reloading products makers make dies for the blasted .303brit

thanks for any advice
 
Just because BP doesn't have it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. With the exception of some old, obsolete presses and .50 BMG everything else is threaded 7/8 14, so Lee dies will work in an RCBS press, or Lyman or Hornady.
 
Most rifle and pistol dies are 7/8-14 thread size and are are interchanges on most machines.
Exceptions are
Dillon Square deal press 11/16"-16
Lyman 310 5/8"-30
.50BMG 1 1/2"-12
 
I got my 303 British dies from Higginson powder. They are Lee, and I believe are interchangeable with most presses.
 
It's not just .50BMG that uses 1-1/2" - 12. Many of the huge African cartridges (.60 and .70 calibre stuff) use it as well as some big old black powder cartridges like .577 Snyder and .577/450 Martini-Henry. The .416 Barrett also uses large format dies.

rhino519, I can assure you that every major die manufacturer makes dies for .303 British. Lee, RCBS, Hornady, Lyman, Redding, etc. etc. all make dies for it.

As has been said, 99% of dies you encounter will use standard 7/8"-14 thread and thus are interchangeable.

need to go shopping now for starter kit for beginner

reason i went with bp is them gift cards, i've been trying to figure out what to spend them on and finally came to conclusion that i don't need more ammo, i need to start using the brass i collected over last 20 years
